The tablet, which goes on full sale Nov. 15, is currently the bestselling and "Most Wished For" device in the electronics category on amazon.com, followed by Amazon's lower-priced line of ereaders.
Mashable readers are showing a similar proclivity for the device. In a recent poll, 45% of readers said they would consider purchasing the Kindle Fire above Amazon's other ereaders, followed by the Wi-Fi only Kindle Touch (25%).
Last week, a leaked inventory shot revealed that a quarter of a million units were pre-ordered in the first five days.
Should Amazon continue to amass pre-orders at that rate (which, admittedly, is not all that likely), more than 2.5 million Kindle Fires will have been sold before the Nov. 15 launch date — a number that would dwarf other tablets’ launch-day sales numbers. Apple, for instance, sold 300,000 iPads, including deliveries of pre-orders, on its first day of sales in the U.S.
At half the price and without a camera, mic or 3G connectivity however, the Kindle Fire is difficult to compare with other devices in the tablet category. It's perhaps best compared to Barnes & Nobles's $250, Android-based Nook Color, for which sales numbers have not been released.
