In my opinion, for the first question, it would be a very good idea that the headmaster come at the boys school, but not alone. Liz need to follow the headmaster at this visit. You guess the reason...
I'm not envy'ing Althos and Herdone when they need to make the boy school: boys / men are wayyyy more difficult and less available in PlayHome. For some 'weird' reason the focus seems to be on girls... :p

But I understand why the dev does this. Developing both options is double the work. It might be even more than double if the choice has consequences later on in the game.
More than, yes. But it is for a very minor character, so the impact would be likely minimal.

But that is kind of the point, when you have a game with choices.

So true - It's why I voted for the headmistress to come to SLAG. Altos has already tried his hand at doing boy's characters in the game (the porn sites on the computer for instance) and the results are, shall we say, not very encouraging. And that's all to do with the available models.

Was there a none of the above option? Honestly I don't want this or anything like it...I would rather he get on with the many incomplete storylines in the game than introduce new ones.

I used AI and generated voice for one scene. 300+ mp3 files but only ~10MB. The voice acting is not great but also not bad. Definitely better than press 'V' that uses your OS voice and read "Monday/Tuesday..."
Should I share the files? Is there someone already generated better voice for the game?
If I should share it. What's the right way to do it? It also involves some script modification to make it work.

If it's just proof of concept, then upload a zip somewhere, which can be installed by unzipping it into the newest release of the game, which may include replacing the script file in order to activate the voices. If it's something, which is worth working on, then perhaps a different approach should be used long term.

No idea if anybody else has done anything like this before. I haven't heard about it, but then again the idea is not unique as I had the same idea, but never posted about it or done anything.

As for quality of AI voices, I saw online that apparently there can be better results if you focus on generating the speech correctly and then the second step is to run it through a voice changer to get the voice you want. This way generating the speech in the first place could use the same voice for everybody and focus would be on correct pronunciation while the second part is about different voices where speech accuracy can be ignored.

Also give everybody realistic voices. I hate those high pitch anime voices. They can literally hurt my ears to such a degree that I can drop watching an anime because of that alone.

Thank you very much for the response and thank you very much for sharing your research with me.
I just started. The model I'm using actually can take instructions on how should it act out each line. I see the possibility to have a large language model, analyze the dialogue and give instructions for each line. Probably need to run a large language model locally without any restrictions. And to run any large model, that's half decent, I probably need to upgrade my PC.
So it is just proof of concept right now. But it's possible to become something. Following the fail early fail fast concept, I am posting here to see if there is any value in this, if there's any interesting in this.
Also, very important to me, I don't want to rub off anyone or any community the wrong way. Is there any rules that I should follow? Is there any forbidden things that I should be aware of?

It seems that a bunch of people try to get hold of 9070 XT cards these days, in which case old cards might come up for sale. Neuro-sama ran quite well on a 1080 TI (upgraded away from it around December 2023 I think). Sure the card is old in terms of FPS, but the 11 GB of VRAM makes it a decent low cost card for AI if the AI in question can run on a 1000 series card. Apparently Nvidia has said something about dropping support for the 1000 series in their driver updates, so that's something to consider, but it will likely also affect price.

I can't tell if it's a good option for you since I don't know your budget, what you use it for etc, but if it's only for AI voices, then new cards will be multiple times more expensive if you want to get something, which doesn't have less VRAM. Obviously when considering used vs new, there is also warranty and similar stuff to consider.

In case you aren't aware, Nvidia trusted a fake rumor that AMD was releasing some GPU, which would beat Nvidia, so Nvidia upgraded the 1080 to a 1080 TI where they overclocked it and gave it 3 GB more VRAM while still selling at a somewhat affordable price (particularly compared to modern prices). AMD didn't release anything to compete against that and Nvidia got stuck competing against their own old card because they dropped down VRAM again and the next card, which didn't have less VRAM was the 3090 3 years later, which started out at twice the price of the 1080 TI. That's why the 1080 TI can be interesting if your goal is getting enough VRAM for AI on a low budget.

Also, very important to me, I don't want to rub off anyone or any community the wrong way. Is there any rules that I should follow? Is there any forbidden things that I should be aware of?
Probably not unless you start to do something like claiming you are the creator of The Headmaster, leak Patreon only releases or something like that. As long as you work on the free version from Itch.com (linked in first post) and declare it to be a third party addon, then I don't see why anybody would get upset. You may consider joining the discord channel (also first post) as that is the main approach to get in touch with the development. They do look at this thread from time to time, but less frequently than discord. Then again a lot of people only look at the forum, so abandoning the forum is also not the answer.
